My wife had a LGS order a 77/357 last week and I picked it up yesterday. Not a bargain price, but fair. The finish looks good and even.
About 5 or 6 years ago, I was really wanting a Marlin in 357. But they were hard to find around here. Then they stopped producing them for a bit. Then I read about the 77/357, and it got my interest. But I seemed to always find something else to spend my extra $ on.
Meanwhile, some reviews I had read about the Ruger's had me a bit leary. Like bolt needing polished or lapped to loosen it's action. Inaccuracy after the barrel gets a few rounds thought it. And so on.
But the bolt moves smoothly with no resistance. Accuracy, I can't say, because my eyes can't do what I need them to do anymore. So, I ordered a scope this morning.
I only shot at 25 yds. with 50 rds. of 158 gr. SWC. Most of the SWC (@ 1.610") feed without problems. It was when I moved the bolt forward too fast, that a cartridge would hang up.
I'm really looking forward to getting the scope mounted and seeing how the accuracy fairs.
All in all, I like the rifle and think a SP101 would look good with it.
