For those who didnt read my earlier thread, heres the backstory.
"So me and my family head up for christmas with my cousins in Virginia. When I get there my uncle takes me to the local range and rents me an Mp5 and tells me to go to town. Needless to say I need to get a class 3 and pronto. Anyway I see a Mosin sitting on the wall, one of two long guns for sale. I pick it up and look it over and see that it in fact a Finnish Mosin. I ask the guy what the price was and he said 75 bucks. At this point I thought it was just a finn capture and didnt think much of it as I already have one of those. So we head back and I asked a friend of mine a few questions and he says "75 bucks? GO BUY THIS RIFLE NOW NOW NOW NOW" Turns out I have a Finnish ex-Civil Guard M24 rifle sitting next to me. For 75 bucks. Oh yes."
If anyone know how much a rifle like this is worth please let me know, I have heard prices from 300-600 dollars.
Ok. Here come the pictures. But first a little more history. I looked up the Civil Guard district number on the side of the reciever and it appears that this particular rifle was stationed in Helsinki. Now, as for the pictures, please cut me a little slack as I am an absolutely HORRIBLE photographer. If you photo gurus out there have any suggestions for me to improve the pics please let me know and ill gladly try them out! Now after a long wait here we go.
This is one long ass rifle. Its several inches longer than the 91/30 even. Ill get a size comparison later.
As you can see here, there is a rather jumbled looking mark on the top of the reciever. That is where the Civil Guard crest used to be, before the Civil Guard was disbanded. Afterward, The rifle was taken in by the Army, who stuck a Double "SA" mark over the Civil Guard logo. You can also see the Volley Sight here, though its not in focus.
Here is a much better (Albeit dark) picture of the reciever. Notice the remnants of the civil guard logo. I dont knwo why they thought they needed yet another "SA" mark near the bottom of the reciever, but its there nonetheless.
And finally, the picture Cyrano really wanted me to get, was of the barrel makers mark on the underside of the barrel. Needless to say I royally ****ed these two pictures up so you have been forewarned. It reads Bohler-Stahl for the record.
