I'm always looking for cheap .44M practice ammo, so...
I gave Fiocchi a try, and that stuff is FILTHY!!
Not only was I feeling lots of hot garbage on my face when I shot, but I was feeling hot cinders on my face when I was standing two feet behind the firing line while my friend shot. I've never felt a better argument for safety glasses - I'd rather have been wearing a full face helmet.

It also feels just a shade wimpy to me, but I didn't bring anything else to compare it with, so maybe the chrono would say I'm lying.

So I guess you might call this a negative review!

I used to buy Fiocchi by the thousand to save money. In that thous, I had 3 bad primers and one squib (round got stuck halfway down the barrel, took a drill to remove it). Wouldn't ever touch it again.

For cheap practice I've gone to Mag-Tech. I teed off on a 1k box, and after 400 I haven't had any trouble.

Great. I just ordered a case of Fiocchi 9mm. BUT, my previous experience with it in 9 has been very good. Revo's tend to spit all kinds of stuff out of the cylinder gap-could that be the prob?

No, this particular 629 has a pretty tight gap, with little visible flash from the gap - and I wasn't standing in line with the gap anyway. I think it's just a lot of filthy crap coming back from the muzzle blast.

How filthy is it??

Well, the analogy that comes to my mind is the time I used a big propane weedburner to clean up fresh dog poop on a concrete driveway -
snap crackle pop bang -
shooting the Fiocchi was about that disgusting, but at least it smelled better!

Huh. I wonder what kind of powder they use. Fiocchi is made in Missouri AFAIK. Have you ever shot any Wolf ammo? Whatever kind of powder they use in that is real nasty. Bat guano, I think.

I'm on my last of 4 boxes of Fiocchi for my .38sp. It is significantly cleaner than the Winchester LRN I used the previous 2 boxes. But I have no comparison to any other FMJ ammo. I does leave some good chunks of stuff in the barrel and cylinder, but the fouling is much less on the rest of the gun.

I got a great deal on a case of Fiocchi 9mm about a decade & a half ago. It was great ammo--no malfunctions, accuracy on a par with the Federal 9BP load (which I generally use as a benchmark). Since then I've bought it whenever I can find it...

I hope that you just got a bad batch and that your issues aren't indicative of a slide in quality!

Where are Fiocchi products made?

"We have a manufacturing plant in Ozark, Missouri, where we load both shotshell and centerfire ammunition. We also import centerfire ammunition, reloading components, match grade rimfire ammunition and specialty/obsolete loads from our parent company in Italy. All products are loaded to either C.I.P. or SAAMI specifications."

I've also had good luck with Fiocchi in the past, 9mm and .38/.357. Clean and shot to pretty hot specs. What you are experiencing almost sounds like a timing problem with your revolver. However, if you don't experience it with other ammo, then ...
