I don't get it... voting on a poll on a Grand Rapids TV station's Web site... what's the point? It's not like it's a real scientific poll or anything. And there's only one person whose posted who might live in its coverage area. Why would they care about somebody from Texas or NY's opinion?

This is my neck of the woods. But I agree, voting on a poll on the local news website is like wiping before you poop. It isn't going to accomplish anything.

77/23.

I know it isn't going to accomplish much other than maybe raising some awareness, maybe someone might see that poll who would have automatically thought permitted carriers on a campus should never be allowed, ad got them to look into it a little further.

The way it was worded and the way those articles are almost always worded makes it appear that what is being created is a zone on campus where no state laws regarding weapons and carrying weapons are in effect any more, when all it is doing is bringing the campus in line with all other state laws.

As of a minute ago:

Do you think that concealed weapons should be allowed on college campuses?
Yes 77%
No 23%
Total Votes: 1107

Readers of the site can't tell where the votes came from. All they see is that "most people think concealed carry should be allowed." As so many unthinking voters get their opinions by osmosis from public sources (most news stories are, in my opinion, as equally suspect as non-scientific polls), that message is one I want lots of people to see. That's why I hit these fire missions.
