Is there any firearms registration in AR? I moved to AR from MI about six months ago. In MI we had to register pistols (but not rifles or shotguns). I was under the impression that in AR there was no registration, except for NFA items. If anyone could point me to anything official on the matter I would appreciate it.

There is no registration in AR for handguns, rifles or shotguns. NFA items, naturally, have all of the federal requirements attached and I think that machine guns have to be registered with the Secretary of State. I'm not sure about that, though.

Edited to add something official: If you want to dig around through the statutes, you can access them at the Arkansas General Assembly page. Go here: http://www.arkleg.state.ar.us/assembly/2011/2012F/Pages/Home.aspx and look down on the left side for "Search/View Arkansas Code."

I live in AR, I've never heard of any gun registration at the state level.

Caveat: I have not done a great deal of machine gun research and am aware that this is largely off-topic for this thread. However, to complete my post from earlier, I snooped around through the Arkansas Code and it looks like manufacturers are required to register machine guns, as well as keep records of sale, but (perhaps) the code section requiring non-manufacturing owners to keep records was repealed.
