Pawn find, cheap alot of surface rust but nothing major otherwise.

First cleaned it up with oil & 0000 wool, then remembered I had an ultrasonic & evaporust. Before and after cleaning with the metal cleaner I couldnt get the barrel bushing to budge, so I figured give it 12 hours in evaporust. After rust treatment it seemed to get all the rust off but also some of the bluing too. This doesnt bother me as I picked this up as a pure project of my talents so to speak.

Im having troubling finding a spec sheet for this exact model due to the switching of companies and country of manufacture. If you have any information on this specific model, brand ect that would be appreciated.

At this moment shes been cleaned with now zero rust, soaked in balistal and now will be torn down for a deep inspection. All photos are from before I started on anything, looking at them now they dont do the surface rust justice. Its bad but no pitting and almost all of it comes right off.

Im hoping some knowledgeable gents would chime in on the finishing of the process such as coating advice(better than my idea of custom camo spray paint), upgrades/replacement parts to be safe or just an overall opinion of my process, end goal ideas, and results.

I have parkerized and used Alumihyde from Brownels with good results. Evaporust will remove blueing. Since blueing is rust. With new grips and finish, it will be like new in no time at all.

Either polish it out (fake stainless) and protect with paste wax or reblue it. Parkerize it as a last resort. Paint, ceracoat, or duracoat are just wrong for a 1911. Paint would be OK on a Hi-Point, not a 1911.

It's your firearm, so you can pick whatever finish you want.
Star builds a fine pistol.
The "street value" can be all over the place, as the market occasionally is rude to Spanish pistols. So, you are unlikely to "hurt" the "resale value" by shangign the finish. (Ok, you use chrome silver spray paint and stick fake pearl grips on, I reserve the right to be a trace, just a smidgen, judgemental :) )

Don't discount the at-home finishes Brownell's offers, as these can be very spiffy (you do want to not skimp on the prep work).

The Firestorms were made in the Philippines (maybe by Armscorp?). When Llama went out of business the brand name and tooling was sold to some company in the Philippines. These firestorms were on the market for a short while then disappeared, but seem to be a copy of the Llama max series of 1911, with a few cosmetic changes. All this happened around the early 2000 -2010 time frame.
