That old man Reality packs a pretty heavy punch I suppose.

It's good to see they are doing this without a court fight in every burg.

they also have a poll on weather or not cities should be able to pas gun control laws on that link. we were winning by a considerable margin.

I have this vision that is making me smile of Sarah Brady stamping her little feet and holding her breath until she turns blue! :D:evil:

Woohooo!! If I could, I'd do like that crazy Texan from The Simpsons and jump up and down shooting my revolvers into the air.

Keep em coming Illinois!

Saying they are not going to enforce an ordinance isn't quite the same as repealing or repudiating it. All they saying is we have a 45 mile per hour speed limit through town but are going to stop writing speeding tickets. You have our word on it. Not something I would put a lot of faith in. The village needs to take it off the books before I think it means something.

rocinante You make a good point. They could just be lying low and waiting to see how the NRA lawsuit turns out. If it goes pro 2A they will probably permanently rescind the ordinance. If it goes anti 2A they will just start enforcing the ban again. :barf:

They're protecting themselves from having the ban overturned.

Actually, I think they're protecting themselves from having to fight that fight.

More or less, a court case that challenges one of the neighboring town's laws will apply to theirs as well. Might as well let someone else fight the battle, win or lose.

Yeah, I think that's a more accurate way to put it. If a local ban elsewhere gets struck down, it will apply to theirs to. The avalanche has already started, it is too late for the pebbles to vote.

I forgot about the honorable Rev. Jesse Jackson being in Chicago. The following is soooooooo jessee. How has Obama kept him from torpedoing him I don't know. They gotta be tight.

Civil rights activist Rev. Jesse Jackson declared that if the law means more gun stores, he would fight to have a say as to where they are located. Jackson also likened the fight against gun violence to the struggle for civil rights.

"We have legalized access to weapons of mass destruction," Jackson said. "We have become the most violent nation on earth. We make the most guns and we shoot them."

"We have become the most violent nation on earth.

No, Jesse, we aren't, not even close. Hey, I know, why not take a tour of your beloved Africa? Tell us how peaceful things are there, Jesse.

We make the most guns and we shoot them

Damn straight, Jesse. Guns are easy to make and we do know how to shoot them. I pray that politicians and charlatans like Jesse Jackson never forget this fact.

Got back to your bribery schemes against hard-working people in American business and leave the gun culture alone.

Reminds me just a little of how racial segregation was made to start crumbling. It didn't just happen, it took a long time, and the cost was staggering.

But when my grandkids ask me what I did to help then, I don't have to be embarrassed or make lame excuses.

And when they ask what I've done to help now, I am not embarrassed either.

It's an honor to have been a small part of some great moments of my time. The bell rang and I responded as best I could every single time, even when I could have ducked or convinced myself I hadn't heard the bell.

I hope that the millions of gun owners who are not already NRA members or supporters of the NRA/ILA will at last hear and respond to this bell. Now. We need you. https://membership.nrahq.org/forms/signup.asp

Another thing...

We're already seeing the 5 stages of grief start, same as then. Expect more, and take that into account when thinking of strategies:

1. Denial
2. Anger
3. Bargaining
4. Depression
5. Acceptance

We're seeing 1 and 2, and a bit of 3, already. See Mayor Fenty, various law professors, Justices Breyer and Stevens, Daley, Nancy Pelosi, Diane Feinstein.

Note also that these are normal stages. Sometimes, people keep looping through 1-4 and refuse to move to 5.
