First Crossbow

Just ordered my first crossbow, a Barnett Whitetail Hunter STR. Any experiences with it or tips in general with crossbows? Newbie to this game.

Keep a eye on the string and cams.

Wax the string every season.

We all use the Barnett Jackal, around here, we think it's pretty much the best overall compromise between price, weight, quality, and ease of use.

You may or may not want to lose that quiver, depending on how much climbing you will be doing. I find them a bit of a PITA, for a climber stand. If you don't hit it in one shot, by the time you reload, whatever you were shooting at is gone, anyway.
