I got the first deer (big ole whitetail doe) of the (MY!) season last saturday. It was a one-shot kill as in DRT! No tracking necessary! Meat was donated to a local roadside recycling center.

Bullet Brand: a 2004 Buick LeSabre.
Bullet Weight: Loaded at about 3150 pounds or appx 22 million grains
Bullet Velocity: about 70 mph or appx 103 fps
Bullet Energy: just over half a million foot pounds
Bullet was recovered intact-that is it did not shed its core. It was classically and heavily mushroomed.
Bullet will be reloaded and reused. Reloading cost is in excess of $3300

See, it's just like they always say--it's not about velocity, it's about shot placement! I hear the trajectory on those LeSabres is hard to manage--good shooting (and, of course, I hope there were no recoil-related injuries?)

Good to hear that everyone's okay.

A very scary experience, and one that is becoming altogether too common across America.

Glad you subscribe to the "Bring enough car" way of thinking. ;)
After working in a body shop for years I've seen the damage a deer can do.
Glad all is well.
