After being on Brownell's P365 waiting list for 3 months (for $470 shipped), I canceled the order and purchased one in-stock from PrepperGunshop (.com) for $549 and ate the difference. I have instant gratification issues when it comes to firearms. Those folks are a pleasure to deal with, BTW.
I took the P365 (and my S&W M60) to the range today to put both through their paces. I encountered a squib load with my M60 which lodged a WC in the barrel. My reloading practices will have to be reviewed.
Anyway, this rendered the M60 out-of-service (a post in the revolver section explains the neato way I removed the slug).
So I focused on the P365, using only factory ammunition (Blazer brass 124gr FMJ, S&B 124gr FMJ and Federal 124gr HST +P).
First off, this pistol is every bit as small as my Karh CM9 despite possessing 4 extra rounds. I boggles my mind how this could be possible. The contour to the grip makes it feel a bit more secure and comfortable in the hand. The sights are phenomenal, the trigger is wonderful and did I mention this thing is tiny? Like supernaturally tiny for what it offers, while still being designed for the human hand.
I put 350 rounds of Blazer brass/S&B FMJs and 100 rounds of Federal HST downrange. Not a single hiccup. Not one. I can shoot this new pistol as well as I can the CM9 which I've had for a couple years (and put more rounds through). With a little more range time, I'm absolutely confident I'll be able to shoot it better. The sights seem to go on target a bit faster too. I'm not sure if it's due to the ergonomics or the awesome Xray tritium sights. I do believe the CM9, as great as a pistol as it is, will spend a little more time in the safe.
Every spent case did exhibit firing pin drag, but it didn't effect the function. Hopefully, the striker will hold up as well as Sig Sauer claims it will. As of right now, this is my primary carry.
With all the bad press on the P365, I thought I'd pass along my first hand experience.
