January 1, 2011 the last day of our gun deer season.

Video here.

Using my new deer rifle, a Savage model 14 Classic in .308 Win.

Handloads: a 165 grain Hornady bullet over IMR 4064 (44.4 grains).

Watch for the bullet to hit the ground behind the doe. The deer ended up running about 12 yards.

Sorry for the long video, to just watch the shot, it's at 1 minute 35 seconds.

And yes, it IS a small deer. Just sayin'!

Cheers-

DOWN! Nice job thomis! Hey, ya might want to put a little WD-40 on that tripod swivel. :D

Looks like a busy place for whitetail. Good job on handlin both the rifle and camera. No easy task.

Nice rifle. I had the same model in .243 cal. Thanks for posting.

excellent single person job! i found its a bit easier to clamp the camera on the rail of my stand and using the viewfinder. not sure how you did it but it worked out well!
