Well one of my bullseye leagues wraps up next week. We shot the second to last match tonight. Last week I hit a 283-13x and this week a 279-7x.

At this point I cannot mathematically lose first place, even if I don't shoot next week. This will be my first time winning a first place league trophy as an individual--all my others are team leagues.

Just wanted to brag a little, carry on.

Congratulations! Bullseye is not a discipline I'm personally interested in (at the moment), but I am in awe of those who can do it consistently well. The sustained mental focus is the most impressive part to me. Well done!

Thanks guys! This one is particularly sweet for me. I had a stroke last may and was afraid I wouldn't be able tondo this again. Still not 100% but good enough apparently.

I have never shot bullseye league, and was curious what gun you are using.

I usually shoot a 6" model 19 S&W. It's been slicked up some and has an ultradot on it. I will occasionally shoot a 686 that is setup nearly identical except a 4" barrel.

I shot a S&W 52-2 for awhile and just prefer to shoot revolvers.

Well done.
Someday, after thousands and thousands more rounds I might be able to actually compete in one. I applaud your skill.

Excellent choice of revolvers. I've used a 4" 66 and a 4" 19-3 myself before I shifted entirely to 45.

Outstanding! 1st palace is always good.

Congrats! I'd never be able to do that, I think.

Great scores . Even harder to do with a revolver.

Don't blame you. Congrats, I know you have worked hard at it.

Thanks guys!! It's been a long road the last year but it feels good to be getting back where I belong.

The crazy part is that this is only my fourth year of Bullseye shooting. I really took to the sport.

IMO, winning matches is the natural consequence of 3 things: A focus on executing the fundamentals well, quality practice, and a good mental game. IOW, put the Big Three together, and you'll start winning at some point. Sounds like you've started figuring this out. Kudos to you.

What, no pics? Congratulations! I'm curious to see your configuration, mount, grips, etc. I'd love to see you shoot. Are you shooting D/A on timed fire? I've been shooting a Python 38 in Bullseye league for close to 20 years, so I have an inkling of what it takes to shoot at that level. Early on I tried S/A for rapid fire but that was a little too busy, so I had to become proficient at D/A. I prefer the 8" barrel to have some mass to work against in D/A mode. I used to have the scope all the way out on the barrel, but it got a little heavy for slow fire. I manage to average around 270, but it was a struggle this winter with tennis elbow. I also tried a 52-2 indoors this winter to ease the strain of the heavy weight of the Python on my elbow, but it had a bit much muzzle flip in rapid fire compared to what I am used to, even with my 2.7 WST loading. Seems odd, since I shoot a 1911 outdoors with open sights, with no perceived recoil issues.

good

If you are shooting those scores with a 686, then it is high time for you to start to work on your Distinguished Pistol Badge. You should have it in short order.
Your matches? Only CF? You do not mention .22 nor .45.....time to start with them if you have not.
Are the matches in your league all gallery matches (30 shots)?
Finally.....have you considered going to the National Matches in July at Camp Perry, Ohio. Truly one of the great experiences in shooting. Still time to register.

I am a little weird I guess because I shoot S/A on my slow fire and D/A on my timed and rapid. I will get a pic of my 19 in good lighting. I use a stock hogue grip.

I do shoot in full matches but the leagues around here are all centerfire or rimfire only using the national match COF.

I plan on shooting the state matches next season and probably going to Perry. Last year I was derailed by a stroke, this year it's a few other family issues.

Oh and maybe a couple pics

Slow fire target from the 283 match(we have some much older shooters that elect to use red center slow fire targets)

Distinguished

Get to work on that Distinguished Revolver badge!!!!
No .45 matches by you?

I understand being derailed. Just had foot surgery and whether I will be ready for Perry in July is iffy at this point.

Nice X-counts! You are well-centered. :) And coming off a stroke! I thought you mighty be younger, shooting a wheelgun in matches that well in such a short time. I've mostly always shot timed fire in D/A. I don't consider it weird at all. If nothing else, it's a warm-up for the rapid fire. I don't want to go into D/A mode cold. Sometimes I shot slow fire in double action, before I moved my scope back. And stock Hogues; wow. Most everyone on my line shoots some sort of match grip; at least anyone who scores well. If you ever want to try a pair of K-frame match grips, let me know. But if it ain't broke......

Here is a photo of a 25-9 I set up for Bullseye. It has a great trigger, just different than the Python. My 'smith smoothed and polished the trigger face. So far I shoot the Python better, maybe because I am more accustomed to it. I suppose you can tell I like 8" barrels.

Actually, I'm probably one of the younger guys on the line at 35. I just had a stroke at a young age. My heart slid into a-fib and I ended up with a blood clot forming because of it.

Congratulations! Great work!

Thanks BDS! It's gonna be a busy week this week as I have a bullseye match Tuesday night followed by a Illinois Police Association Bullseye match and combat match Wednesday morning, then another match Wednesday night. Hopefully I pull a couple more decent targets this week.

Those are great groups.

I noticed this load. 2.7 WST loading. What else are you bullseye shooter using these days.

I haven't shot bullseye since the early 80's, It was my favorite.

Dabble in a little PPC these days and shoot a 6" 586 with 2.7 bullseye 148 WC loads.

Also shoot some spray and pray IDPA & IPSC for fun. It makes me shoot my guns.

Plan on trying ICORE next winter in FL.

I've experimented with several powders for this. I have eventually settled on a powder that it seems nearly no other bullseye shooters use, AA#2. It meters absolutely perfectly every single drop so I don't have to worry about consistency when using a powder measure. It burns pretty clean and it gives fantastic groups.

I shoot the 480 combat matches also, but I just started that. I've shot one with a 586 4" and one with a Sig 1911. I'll be shooting another one this Wednesday and I think I'll use the 1911 again.
