Thank you usp fan and everyone else that has responded and helped me out.

I have seend the safe that you have at a gunshop and am considering it tremendously. I love the fact that it can be opened with a key or your fingers onthe finger pads provided.

Mike.

I have 2 safes like that and they get the job done. ALTHOUGH, they seem to go through batteries more quickly than I would have imagined. Keep an eye on them.

A couple of thoughts:
The Walther P99 is distributed by S&W. But the gun you have is not really a hybrid in the sense that the whole thing was made in Germany. Your slide is Tenifer treated, just like a Glock.

I have a P99C AS. I really like it, but... finding a holster for it has been a real pain.

At any rate, you can find a nice leather or kydex rig for your full size gun at many different places. Try Comp-Tac for kydex. You also might want to check out www.waltherforums.com - though their site seems to be down right now.

Thank you autospike

Man everyone single one of you guys have welcomed me so well here. Thank you once again and I am glad to have joined this community.

You know at one time in my life I was against, somewhat, owning a gun because I was afriad of people killing people and the consequences that it would bring. Only until I recognized that I have a right to own one for pleasure(sport/range) and protection(my family) did I realize that I was wrong.

I turned 21 today on flag day and I can't wait to submit my CWP next week! I have never been so excited in my life. Thanks to everyone here.

Well, I'm a newbie too.

Hey
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

It's my little sister's birthday as well, and of course, it's FLAG DAY.

My sis turned 32 today.

When she was little, I told her that all the flags were put up for her birthday. I still remember the day she foun out I had lied to her. She was in elementary school and her friends just weren't buying her story about me and our dad putting up all the flags for her :D

Huge Issue Here

Ok I really can't decide betwen the .40 P99 and the SW99 Compact 9mm!!

I can't sleep right now because of this. I know it's funny and probably crazy.

I want a gun that I can carry and I can handle easily. I have never shot a .40 caliber in my life. I have shot 9mm but have issues controlling the weapon at time. I love the way the p99 looks and want one so badly but the .40 cost of ammo also is putting me off.

The SW99 compact will be so easy to conceal and put away anywhere in your house with a safe or trigger lock. It holds 10+1 (9mm). And the SW99 has a lifetime warranty compared to the P99 which only has a 1 year warranty. Nevertheless if you take care of it you shouldnot have any issues. I really can't decide.

Anyone ?

Based on anyones experience. Do you know if it is easier or more controlable to shoot a .40 than a 9mm?

Have you held an XD yet? It has a great feel and not much felt recoil. I have the 4" model that I carry and conceal easily daily. And the ammo isn't that bad, especially if you look around. I just joined a gun club and one of my goals is to find someone to go in on a case of ammo.

Do not take the holster and belt recommendations lightly, it's essential for comfortable and relialble carry. My favorite is RafterS . Great quality, good prices and they have a 3 week wait list.

No I have not held the XD. I already paid for the P99 but had the option to swtich to the SW 99 compact.

Does anyone know if the SW99 COMPACT has a firing pin block and trigger safety like the P99, because on Smith-wesson.com it says N/A for those features.

Alright, I have chosen to stick with the P99. I have read several reviews and personally see that many think it is a fine piece of machinery. I have also held it in my hand and it feels great. I can't wait to get it to go the shooting range. If you guys want I will let you know how it turns out. Hopefully no malfunctions will happen. I am going to takecare of this baby like a jewel.

Mike,

If you want a Walther rather than a SW,

Why don't you get a Walther P99 Compact in 9mm?

Surely the gun shop could get you one of those if you really wanted it.

I would take the 9mm since you say you have a bit of an issue with control. The .40 may be even more of a problem for you.
