Just had to share my excitement. I'll be home for my first hunting season in 7 years. My enlistment is up and I'll be back home in Texas mid-way though October. Can't wait to hit-up the hill-county.

Took my 700PSS out to the range last week to try out some different loads, felt really good prepping my gear for this season. Can't wait to create some new memories and kick the **** around with my family and friends.

Here's a pic of my new center-piece I picked out. Should make an excellent hunting rifle and long-range shooter. Who knows, maybe I'll transition it over to my SHTF or CCW... :)

Sir,

May I be the first on THR to say,

Welcome home, thank you for your service and GOOD HUNTING!

wow

That thing is nice , have fun with it, It looks like a 300 Mag. in mc stock, Heavy huh? well have fun...by the way what are you goung to hunt?

Yes it's a 300 mag and it does have a little heft which after owning a Ruger All-Weather in 300 and getting scope-bit a couple of times, the added weight is a plus.

I'll be hunting white-tail, javelina and any exotics I happen to see. Don't worry, I definately won't be using plunging or fire for effect like the guys in another post (1800m kill). I prefer grazing fire set-up on a final protective line. This way the deer and game can run to me. That's the reason behind the heavy barrel and tactical bolt know, I find they help during periods of heavy rapid-fire.

Sweetness - those deer can run, but they'll only die tired! :) Though I don't really understand what this means:

I prefer grazing fire set-up on a final protective line. This way the deer and game can run to me.

I was being sarcastic and indirectly relating to a post I read about a 1800m confirmed kill on an Elk. If you read the post, you will learn how the guy was using a spotter to call in fire on the animal. I jokingly said that I prefer grazing fire set up on a final protective line.

Grazing fire is a distance where the bullet's trajectory will not rise above the kill zone and a final protective line is a fixed direction of fire.

Imagine automatic fire on a fixed point of aim where anywhere between your muzzle and the poa is a kill shot.

who did the work on your bolt knob?
i've had hd rifles do some work for me in the past, but they are going under a restructuring of sorts, and i need some more bolt work done...
