After some very useful input a while ago on a thread I started - about Glocks and SIG's - I decided that SIG will for now win the day. Guess I'll still have to get a Glock - eventually! :p

Went a bit mad and got a NIB 226ST .. and one extra mag (for now!). This will I hope become a good IDPA tool this year and then very possibly join the carry choices selection.

I picked it up yesterday afternoon and have only just gotten to taking pics. Took it to a .22 bowling pin shoot last night and managed to put a few mags of ammo thru - OK, bit tight and trigger a tad firm but - in essence most pleased. Love the factory grips, and it also has the SIG Trijicon inserts ... might help my old eyes. The accessory rail will also give me the option to retrofit sometime later, a decent light.

In a fit of (shall we say) ''enthusiasm'' ... and casting aside the trauma to pocket book .... I have just ordered three more mags .. 17 rounders ... and a set of CT grips... oh and, a kydex paddle.

Oh heck - I have some serious ''splainin' to do. :p <shudder>

Its always easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. Of course I still have to figure out how to tell the wife about the Bersa Thunder I bought in November. She did find out about the 1911 though.

You need to keep in mind that Sigs are like airhead Beemers...Sigs need 10,000 rounds through them to break them in, just like old BMW cycles need 50,000 miles to seat in the piston rings.

It'll just keep getting better and better. You can get the action smoothed if you're impatient, though...or just shoot more :D

Glad you got it. Welcome to the club!

Rabbit.

So...........very...........nice........must.........have............one......

Thanks for sharing. Gorgeous weapon. I consider the 226 the finest combat/defensive handgun on the market.

Awsome!Congratulations!Me too, just last night I hooked up with my first Sig! :D Got a Sig 239 in 9mm.I have small hands and this gun feels GREAT ;) ,but it has to stay in "jail" for another ten days before I get to take it home :banghead:

also

Alduro..today.

Now you just gotta try a Glock 17...18 rounds...22 ounces....OOOOOEEEEE now thats fun.

Why_me ... cal? 9mm. I'd like sometime to have a 357 SIG cal but that's a ways off .... the choice here was based very much on costs of shooting in IDPA and steel shoots etc ... lot of ammo used and cost is thus a factor. Plus when I have the hi-caps thru - it'll give me a 17 round count ... which I like!

Chip - velcro? - indeed ... something I may well exploit! May have to!!!!
when I was "bathing" my little one today
Bwhaha ... ''little one'' ... oh my - which ''baby oil'' works best? LOL.

Steve F ... hey, congrats to you too it seems ... nice.

Now I just gotta shoot the heck out of it. :)

Great choice!

I can't say enough good things about my 226ST. Mine is 9mm as well, I was amazed at how much of he recoil is sucked up by the weight of the gun.

Enjoy the new Sig!

P.S. get yourself an 18# hammer spring, and polish the trigger bar. It really smooths out the DA trigger pull.

With its M3

Nice one Jeep ... yep, trigger bar is on my ''to do'' list - sometime!

18# spring? What is the std spring? I guess this is toward a smoother break?

Just posted BTW in accessories asking re Good rig for 226 - want to find something not overly expensive but that fits the bill for my requirments.

Very nice. Welcome to the Dark Side. I want a 9mm SIG at some point to go with my P220.

Hmm. A thread about someone buying a SIG that's been up for a day and a half with no comment from cslinger. He must be sick. ;)

Congrats on your 226. The trigger will improve with use. Don't forget to lube the hammer and trigger pivots to make the pulls smoother.

Never shot the all steel SIG. So how different is it?

And most important, are you happy?

NM ... indeed, most happy with it, even tho it is in a sense ''early days''. Out of the box it felt just as I wanted, good balance and as I said I think, the grip is just great. Hopefully when I have added CT grips it will still feel as good. I do like double stackers.

As for the steel element - well I guess this is all down to weight really. With empty mag in it is all but 2 pounds .. but some of that weight feels usefully forward ... such that its recoil characteristics are, for me - all but ideal. I am not phased by weight in carry pieces - almost the opposite.
