First Spruce Hen

My 6 year old grandson Wade and his best bro Levi with a Spruce Hen they got with a rock, down the road at the edge of the village.
There was a very excitable chase after the hit, and the Hen ended up decapitated....or so the story was told. LOL!
They came to the house to get a knife an dWade plucked it clean of feathers at the steps end.
Then it was off to Levi's grandmother Bessie, as all first catch are given away, no matter what.
Giving the food away makes a Hunter into a provider and sets a trend for a good Hunter to follow.

Congrats on their catch. The grouse are starting to show themselves up on the forest service roads here in Western Washington.
I like that giving their first kill away.
