Well the format was 300 meters, points... 10 for center etc...
25 shots per round...
there were only ten of us. It was quite windy 5 mph gusting to 10 or so...
No chance to zero in... so I just aimed for the top 1
here's what I got
4 9's when the wind had died down
8 8's
10 7's
2, 6's
1 1
Needless to say I was out after the first round. But I didnt feel bad... because
a. I had no clue as to what I was doing...
b. Couldnt see the bullet holes with my scope... so the only time I actually saw where the shots were hitting was when the target was retrieved
c. Factory Fresh Federal 180 grain Game King's
d. The recoil from the 300 Win Mag isnt as bad as it was last week...
Was using a SHR 970, Weaver 4.5-14/40, Weaver mounts, Versa Bipod and no rear bag. Seated on a table...
Good fun...
There were a bunch of others shooting in the Bench rest category... all custom made rifles with Wildcat's dominating. every thing from 6 mm to 308's to even a variation of the 338 case necked down...
When the wind died down some... most of these people were shooting single holes... a real eye opener for me... who thought my 1/4 inch groups at 50 meters with a .22lr were good...
