Howdy folks. Decided to try something new. I've always been a Sierra man, but I got a decent buy on some Berger .308 168gr match grade "Classic Hunter".
I shoot 168gr Sierra MKs for precision in my FN PBR XP .308 (24") with great satisfaction (.5 m.o.a. or better). I'd love to find a hunting bullet with similar b/c, stability and consistency, which Berger claims with these.
Has anyone had any experience with these bullets in comparable use? If so, feedback greatly appreciated. Thanks and good hunting.

Berger makes 3 different bullets, a target bullet, a Classic hunting bullet which you are using, and a VLD hunting bullet. I'm not exactly sure what the real difference is between the Classic hunting bullet and the VLD hunting bullet

I've experimented a bit with the VLD hunting bullet in both 155 gr and 168gr. Accuracy and velocity in my guns is excellent. I've not shot any game yet, but all reports are that they drop animals in their tracks with lung shots even at very long range. Not the best bullet for odd angles where you have to penetrate a lot of muscle before hitting vitals.

They have been more accurate in my rifles than the 168 SMK.

The difference between the Classic Hunting bullets and the VLD Hunting bullets is the ogive...the Classics are designed to be less fussy about seating depth and jump to the lands.

I am shooting the Berger 155 gr VLD Hunting bullet in the 30-06 and 300 Win. Mag.

Here is a buck I shot at 280 yards with that bullet from my 30-06.
