So a few of you might know that my magazine release/catch was SUPER sensitive and that slightly brushing against it would drop the magazine. Well I emailed Mike as CZ and he said to send the magazine release/catch in and he'd modify it to work properly.
Fast forward a few months of busy life and work and I still hadn't sent it in (i know i know). Well I just decided one day to call up CZ and request a new magazine catch sent to me. They said they would and in about 4-5 business days, I got the package. When I removed the old magazine catch, they looked very similar but the old one looked slightly more rounded (and the finish was coming off). I swapped in the new magazine release and put in one of my magazines. It worked! No more premature magazine releasing!
It doesn't end here. I put in my 2nd magazine and it didn't. Strange! As hard as I tried, I could not get the magazine to even seat properly on the mag catch. It would go in, but I could pull it out with my hand without even depressing the magazine catch. Curious, I examined the two magazines. Easily visible with the naked eye, the good magazine had a slightly larger opening in the magazine where the catch makes contact. The other one was much smaller. So it would seem that there are multiple versions of CZ97b magazines!
I'm just glad to have fixed it! I'm going to go put a few rounds down range to see what gives!
