I just recieved all the necessary paperwork to apply for a Florida carry permit.
I currently have a VA permit and am an honorably discharged vet. Do i need to go to any classes to apply for the permit?
Thank you:)

I would suggest calling the Dept of Agriculture (number should be in the packet). I had a few questions when I filled mine out and they were very helpful.

The basic hunter safety course qualifies you so I would assume that your military experience would as well.

I recommend calling the number, they were helpful with my process.

DD214 gets you the training requirement, the other docs are specified in the instructions. Copy of your passport/drivers license, passport photo(s), completed fingerprint card (done by a badged police officer), notarized application just going from memory.

I just got my FL permit a few months ago, mainly for PA. Ironically VA tacked on PA recently...go figure.

The fingerprinting procedure here was less than stellar. I had to fight the crowds at the courthouse and the sheriff was less than understanding about fingerprinting me.

Hey, be absolutely sure you fill out the form right. I'd call the number and ask exactly what you need first. They sent the app back after a couple weeks pointing out something I missed/needed. Very polite though!
