What exactly is the physical difference between a flash suppressor and a muzzle break?

I gather that a muzzle break vents gas in opposing directions to stabilize the muzzle, but how does a muzzle break work?

They look so similar that it seems like a muzzle break and flash suppressor should do the same things.

Flash hiders break up the muzzle gas and cool it, preventing the gas from combusting outside the weapon.

A BRAKE redirects the flow of muzzle gas to do work. Typically they push the muzzle down to counteract rise (compensation) and forwards to reduce recoil (braking).
