Picked this little gem up last month.
Smith & Wesson 31-1, 4" barrel. "J"-frame.
Flat latch, diamond grips.
There's some finish wear and speckling but the bore is bright and shiny with strong rifling.
Looks like it was shot a few times and left in a sock drawer for 30 years. Trigger pull is smooth and crisp.
I've been wanting a 32 S&W Long revolver with a "long" barrel for a while.
Collecting S&Ws is becoming an addiction and I am somehow drawn to 32 S&W Long, God knows why.

That's one sweet Model 31 you've got there! I have always been drawn to J frames like the Model 36 with a 3" barrel.

Nice, and very good condition. I had one years ago and let my brother have it, but got another later. They are quite accurate with the 32 long wadcutter. Enjoy.

Very nice!

I've been looking for one of those for some time but can't seem to find one in decent condition for a reasonable price. I have a 2" 30-1 and a 3" Ruger SP 101 327 Fed mag but, like you, want the longer barreled S&W.

Reloading for the .32 is relatively inexpensive and the low recoil is much appreciated by my aging wrist.

Nice going, enjoy!

I recently got a Smith .327 Magnum and really like shooting the .32 H&R and .32 Longs. It has become one of my top three favorites. It's just a pleasure to shoot, and everyone that I let run a cylinder through loves it too. It may not be the best defensive weapon in the world, but it's respectable and not every gun has to be a SD gun. Some can be fun too, right? (Most, actually...)

I'm with you. I got the .32 wheel gun bug when shopping for an SD gun for my wife. I'm not one of those cavemen that thinks women can't handle recoil, but my wife has arthritis and really can't shoot my bigger guns. So we bought an S&W Model 431 in .32 H&R Mag. She loves it, practices with it, and is a pretty good shot. An 85gr JHP in the nostril beats a gun neglected in a drawer because it's too painful to carry or shoot.

Next, I saw a Model 631 in a pawn shop. It looked interesting, so I inquired about it on the gun boards. I was told in no uncertain terms that I would be an idiot to pass it up, so I bought it.

Now, I'm waiting for my Ruger Single Seven. Lipsey's says its about two weeks out. The .32 fever builds.
