I solved the eye height problem with a new (1970s old stock) set of Weaver See Thru Extension Rings I had left in my old gunshop. They gave me enough height to even use the old 3 x 9 Tasco as a carrying handle if you don't wear gloves. I could have used another 1/4 - 3/8, but hey "run what you brung" plus it didn't cost anything.
Anyway I got the old scope mounted up and stepped out the back door. The nib $499.00 DPMS performed flawlessly with WCC 88 55 gr. and was sighted in with 10 shots (shots 1-3 missed as I moved from 25 yards to 10 yards to finally get on the paper).
NC is having a heat wave complete with hoards of deer flies so range session was short. But weapon is now in service!
All is good in coastal NC.

None, I'm using a regular old rifle scope and can mount it forward or backwards all I want with this setup. I would have liked a little more height say 3/8 to 1/2 inch more, but beggers can't be choosy and it is usable as is plus, as I stated, scope makes a nice carry handle.
Did that answer your question?
