I recently got the flintlock pistol bug and ended up with 2 pistols. Both are replicas made in Japan, one of which is a horse pistol.

So I was looking on line for other firing Flintlock and percussion single shot pistols and keep coming up with pot metal nonfiring junk.

Dixie gun works and cabella's have the regular stuff, 45 50 and 54 caliber, at pretty high prices.

What are some good sellers that aren't so darn costly, and that sell stuff of larger caliber?

Here's a picture of my 2 flintlocks

If you can tell me anything about them it would be great.

The Middlesex Village Trading Company sells a variety of affordable and authentic looking Indian made flintlock pistols having large bores. Many reenactors buy them and have reported that they're strong sparkers, are very safe to shoot and function well. They can sometimes have stiff triggers and other minor stock fitting problems that generally are either not too hard to fix or don't matter very much considering their price.

i can't think of a place other than Cabelas where you can get a cap and ball revolver for $130 or so. they are cheap. but if you want to get into building your own kit guns, then i highly suggest Dixie Gun Works kits. i built a Traditions rifle kit that was a level 5, and it wasn't that hard. you can often get kits cheaper than the finished gun, and you can make them just the way you like. here's some links for the gun kits.

gun kits are really fun, they are like model airplane kits only you get to make firearms. and if you make it yourself it can be just the way you like it.

for reasonably priced flintlock pistols the pickens aren't great. Check the Possible shop web site, and the Pedersoli guns at Cherry's. Dixie doesn't evven carry some of what is available out there. I just checked the Ardesa web site yesterday and thhere are some really neat guns made that Traditions doesn't even import as their US distributor. Taylor's are either Spanish or Italian repros from the same factories, but do tend to be a bit better in quality.

Pistols

I understand that the Lyman pistols - I do not own one - are good ones. If they are anything like the Great Plains Rifle, they are a good buy.
I have a Traditions flintlock .50 pistol. It is a nice shooter.
My most accurate ML pistol is an underhammer percussion gun made for me by Bob Worthington at Greyhaven Arms. Not inexpensive.
About MVTC - I have a couple of firearms from them. I am satisfied with them in general but
They can sometimes have stiff triggers

One of the two - a Howdah - had the heaviest triggers that I have ever tried to fire. The gun was almost unshootable. They had to be 40lbs. It took two fingers on the trigger and a lot of work to fire either barrel.
The good news is that I was able to fix that - with a lot of grinding and polishing - and now they are a more civilized pull at about 10-12lbs..
The other gun, a blunderbuss, had an OK trigger.
