Flobert Rifle

Years ago I had read the Pennsylviania Crime Code; a compendium of what is criminal to engage in here in the Keystone state.

Of course, it was illegal to discharge a bazooka rocket into the window of a moving vehicle here in my state, but in addition, we were not permitted to fire Flobert rifles.

I'm getting up there in years, but I have not idea what that might be.

Anyone know of them?

I believe they are parlor rifles firing very weak rimfire rounds. They were used for indoor shooting (parlors).

Flobert was the designer of the rimfire ignition system, and his name came to mean (by extension) any small-calibre, low-powered firearm.

Yeah they are crappy plug punters for shooting indoors (in pubs) and they are in general none too safe for firing even if their double centurian vintage didn't factor in!
