If I sell a firearm to an individual at a gun show, are there laws I need to follow? What is my liability if that person commits a crime with the firearm, or turns out to be a fellon? What do you do in Florida to have a safe and legal sale?

Thinking about it, it might just be smarter to deal with a dealer...

As long as you believe the buyer can legally possess the firearm you are selling, there is no liability. If he does turn out to be a felon, he is the one violating the law, not you. There is no required paperwork or other checks, but it is a good idea to get the guy's name and address for your records. Some folks even have the buyer sign a receipt. Not really needed, but doesn't hurt.
