Hey guys I just bought my first hand gun on saturday it is a FM Hi-Power 9mm Luger I talked to several people about FM and they all told me it is a good brand, I personally love the gun, But I can not find any information on the internet and I was wondering if you guys new where to get info on this brand. I do not even know what FM stands for.

I think you mean "FN" not FM. FN stands for "Fabrique Nationale" an old arms company based in Herstal, Belgium. If it actually is FM, then I'm stumped also.

[Edit]
My bad - I just found this description of the Argentine FM Hi-power: http://www.sarcoinc.com/fm-hipower1-new.html

I'm not sure what the FM stands for.

[Edit 2]
Found it. FM is short for "Fabrica Militar de Armas" which was an FN licensed manufacturer in Argentina.

FM Argentine actually made the Hi Power too.

I just learned this because a new Russian girlfriend is a shooting enthusiast and this is her pistol. She asked me to help her identify it. BTW, she shoots it and keeps it loaded and cocked and locked and she loves this gun. I'm looking forward to shooting with her soon.

I held it and it feels like a well build and well balanced pistol.

Oh yea I love this gun. I went to the gun shop and I looked around for about 2 hrs. I looked at many 9mm from S&W downt to a Llama but when I picked up the FM I knew it was the one I wanted because it fit my hand like a glove and it did not feel as cheap as the others. And it is EASY to take apart and clean. It shoots very well

I love mine too although it likes brass ammo and not aluminum or whatever CCI is using in it's 115 gr FMJ. 115 gr FMJ from winchester always ejects properly though and it has brass casees. There may be fault in my logic but Brass cases always eject properly and other metal casings do not.

Let us in on the details, like the model (pre-90, M90, M95), and how much they were willing to ask for the FM. I have personally found them in a used display case for as little as $200, and new for $325. My favorite FM/FN is the FN slide and an FM frame. I got rid of the original plastic grips and put on a set of Spegel thin grips (fully checkered), and changed out the spur hammer for a commander-style.

You'll like your FMHP. Mine was the first gun I bought too, about 11 years ago.

I've had to replace a few small parts over the years (mostly as a result of my gunsmithing 'expertise'), and so far, all FN parts fit it. From what I read, they were made from FN blueprints in Argentinian factories.

**Edit**

+1 to what MDig said. I don't think I ever tried aluminum cased but mine sure doesn't like steel cased Wolf. I haven't found any brass cased that it doesn't like, though.
