I handled one of these today ... I have long awaited what amounts (more or less) to a 9mm version of the FNX-45 Tactical, which has an excellent trigger.

The 509 Tactical looks and feels great... they did everything right.....

EXCEPT the trigger is horrible. Abysmal... it's the roughest, stickiest thing imaginable. When you let the trigger up, it takes about 1/2 hour to come back just to reset.

What's up with that? Really disappointing. Who's gonna pay $900 for that? I mean, this gun would rock otherwise. It comes with 3 mags - one 17-rd, and two 24-rounders, high sights, extended/threaded barrel, removable plate to mount an electronic sight, nice case, etc.

Why not just make a 9mm version of the hammer-fired FNX-45 Tactical if they don't know how to make a trigger decent on a striker-fired gun?

Dunno. I personally haven't been impressed with ANY of the FN pistols I've tried (other than my 1906 vest pocket). Maybe you tried a lemon.

image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg I purchased the fn 509 tactical, brand new outa the box the trigger is less to be desired(new) but after putting couple hundred rounds through it, I can honestly say now it's much much better at least from my experience.
As for the reset, I have no complaints it's not bad at all. I'm glad this came out as I was ready to purchase the 45 tactical. For all the features you get from the fn 509 tactical I think it's worth what their asking, but like anything else....prices will eventually drop.

I had a 509 and the trigger was pretty good. Fondled one of the new 509 Tacticals and it appeared to have a nice trigger as well. Think you just ran across a lemon. It happens.

I have a co-worker who recently picked one of these up ... we took it out last Thursday and the trigger was excellent (probably 500 rounds shot between us. I finished our range session thinking that I actually would purchase one of the 509 Tacticals ...(for some reason, I've decided I'm gonna buy all the pistols that competed in the last military handgun trials, and I also realized that I like the FDE/coyote/bronze color ...

I've only had mine a couple of weeks and the weather hasn't co-operated so only about 100 rounds through it, but the trigger seemed to me better than the average striker fired pistol. Not as good as the Walther PPQ but on a par with the SIG P320. No complaints.

I tried on a standard 509. Loved the feel of the gun but the trigger was gritty as hell.

I've seen reviews and read on several forums that after a few hundred rounds the 509 trigger smoothes out really nicely.
