Century Arms International R1A1 built on an Imbel receiver. Plan to add some extra USA parts to be over and above minimums.

So who are the folks with the best reputation for parts quality and for doing business with? Good service, good parts, and stand behind their products?

Right now Penguin seems to have their fininshed and put together stock sets a little under a hundred bucks. It's the other stuff ( fire control group ) and other US made parts I'm interested in.

Far as I know Century did all the compliance stuff needed. As far as I know. Assuming they had assemblers that forgot to swap out what they were supposed to and left some USA compliance parts out, or used cheap parts, which parts to buy? I haven't broken it down to check it out. Waiting til I pull it apart to install the new stock. I remember hearing one place referred to as the gold standard of USA made parts. Can anyone tell me who that was?

Thanks

One thing is that you are probably NOT at what you want the compliance minimum to be. Century, and others, often include a US floorplate, so the gun is illegal with any all-foreign mags.

I have bought from a mixture. DSA of course, but also some from TAPCO (and I love my "SAW" stocks!) and from other places, like GunThings. In general, know what you want, and know where the part came from. Call them if you are in doubt. I like gunthings, becase they have photos and descriptions of everything.

One note: keep EVERYTHING. If you keep messing with your gun, someday you will bend a cocking tube or strip the slot off a screw. Having an old but functional one might save you a week's wait and too much shipping.

Here's my FAL now, for the stocks. The cheekpad is because I bruise easily. Don't laugh. I love the para rear also:

S01,

Could you do a HUGE favor for me? Measure the length of pull on that SAW stock. My Penguin is too long, and I haven't talked with anyone who's been able to give me the LOP.

Thanks,

John
