FN tactical shotgun

The skinny standard-collapsing AR stock they have really focuses recoil according to Leroy Thompson in SWAT (and he's shot every combat shotgun out there and is no recoil wimp, for his book on Combat Shotguns).

I would go for the gun but immediately swap out the stock with the Magpul collapsing stock (quite popular with people who have a choice in the matter in Iraq and other places apparently). It gives you a bigger area in contact with your shoulder and a better cheekweld.

Thanks for the info. What is fair price wise on one of these? For the money am I better off getting a Benelli M-1 or a Nova for alot less money? They are offering these with a free c-more sight included right now.

That sounds decent for an FN. Not to mention the C-more sight is $150-200 by itself, so getting a free one is gooooood..... :)

Benelli M1 Super 90: $900+

Benelli Nova SP: $300, but you can't swap the stock (ever...it's molded around the reciever) I own one, so I know. If you don't like the fit of the gun as is, you're screwed (mine fit me fine, so I bought it) basically, if you can't handle and shoulder the weapon in person first, don't get a Nova because it may not fit you. They have spacers you can adjust, but not that much.

If you have much trigger time on AR style rifles, the change in the safety position will drive you nuts and (IMHO) be a real risk for fumbling in a stress situation.

A good friend of mine helped me break in my 870P shortly after returning from NRA LEO pistol and shotgun instructor school. He mentioned wishing that he had an 870 for duty. He bemoaned his issue shotgun as a POS. It was a FN police model--not the one with M-16 features but the same Winchester 1300 action. He said the dept. got them instead of Remingtons because they are cheaper.

Forgive if I'm wrong, but I just don't see the point in paying that much for a tarted up Winchester.
There are companies that make AR-15 stock adapters for Remingtons and Mossbergs, but I have yet to figure out the real utility of the mod.

fn

I found a short barrel for my Benelli M-1 and decided to just use it. I am used to it and I probably can't get any better. Thanks for all the advice.
