Was looking at FNP-9 today kind of liked the the feel and the features. Haven't really payed much attention to them in the past. Gun shop said they can get them in a FNP-40, FNP-357 Sig and FNP-45 Thinking about ordering a FNP-357 or FNP-45.

My question is are they decent pistols? And do all the FNPs come with interchangeable backstraps. Or is the interchangeable backstraps something new?

I have had the FNP45 for quite a while and it is by far the best auto I have shot.

All come with a flat and arched back strap and 3 mags.

But it is a love it or hate it gun.
Same as all the rest I suppose.

The aftermarket is starting to catch up now that it's been around for a bit.
The trigger on mine is great, no complaints.
Just over 12 lbs DA and 4 lbs SA
I keep hearing about the flimsy plastic trigger but mine doesn't flex.
If it does it is so minute that it is not noticeable.

Consistent 25 yd shots and I can hit an 8x11" plate at 100 yds with it.
7 yds gets boring and almost feels like cheating.
If you like hammer guns I recommend one.

Some have a problem getting them to feed HST 230 gr +p and feel the gun is no good but oh well.
I have a good stock of Rem GS so I haven't bothered to try any.
Although mine didn't like WWB FMJ ammo at first.
But it seems to be a mag thing.
My two 14s are fine with it now but the 15 still hates em.
No big deal to me, I just keep the 15 loaded with GS's and don't worry about it.

I've heard nothing but great things about FNP handguns. A year or so ago, CDNN was offering some military contract (NIB) FNP-9 for cheaps, somewhere in the mid $300 range IIRC. I still kick myself for not picking one up.
At least I jumped on the Steyr M40 and CD HP from CDNN, each for less than $300 when they had them.

They used to be a really great deal.
When I became aware of the 45 they were going for $400 buy it now on Gunbroker.

I wound up getting mine for $580, 100 rounds of ammo, cleaning kit, Uplula mag loader and BG check included.
;)

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to brag about my FNP-9. I bought it just about a month ago and after my first trip to the range, I put my Glock 19 and Glock 26 up for sale. It is really a sweet shooter. I like it so much that I ordered and took delivery on an FNP-357 last week. Haven't had a chance to shoot that one yet. I prefer to carry IWB and found that Galco makes the SUM480 for it. Started wearing and carrying in that on Thursday. I also found a similar IWB on eBay which is due in the mail either today or Monday. Here are my two FNP's enjoying each other's company.

I did put a Pachmayr slip-on grip on the 9 and will do the same with the 357 just because I like them. ;)

I have shot one and I know they are a good gun but they cost a little bit more than the other cookie cutters (Glock, M&P, XD) so they dont sell too well.

I have the FNP-9 and think it is a great handgun. Very accurate and fun to shoot with absolutely no failures of any kind. The FNP-45 is a larger gun so you definitely need to handle it before making a decision. The FNP-357 (with a replacement .40 S&W barrel) is on my wish list.

Oh, don't get too upset JohnBT. I simply meant that the decocking mechanism and hammer mechanism are very Sig-like in their operation and function. And (and this is subjective), they feel like a Sig.... as I said, I'm not upset by it. I think they copied those parts very well.

Oh, and it field strips a whole lot like Sigs do as well. Not a complaint. Just an observation.

Great pistols for the money. I had a FNP40 that shot and functioned flawleessly and wound up trading it for something I just couldn't pass up.

I have a bit of a biased opinion but I truely loved my FNP. Im a bit partial to the 45s grip over the current grip being used on the 40,357, and 9 but they both fit my hand very well.

Accurary is great as well as fit and feel of the guns. Every part of the gun is made in the USA and assembled right in Columbia,SC. They also come standard with 3 magazines and a trigger lock. Mine has the manual safety/decocker.

Any other questions feel free to ask:)
