I was watching the local morning news on the local NBC affiliate. So there was about 5 minutes on the Colorado shooting then a bunch of local stuff that was the normal thing. Then the killer report---a 20 second report on a pickup holding 24 or so people that hit a tree in Texas that killed 11. They commented it probably blew a tire and lost control. With this type of reporting the 2A problems are really shot in the foot IMHO.:banghead: I do not wonder why we have the problems we do with the news agencies reporting.

This really upsets me! If the news DID report all things subjectively I would have more faith in what the talking heads say.

What guns were they carrying in the truck?
Lmfao.

Seriously, shootings are what the news feeds on. Crashes don't get ratings, scary black rifles with banana clips filled with armor piercing cop killer bullets do.

I would like to take this time to point out that hi capacity mags are not to blame, Columbine and the Texas tower shooting were both more deadly and wounded tons of people despite both being carried out almost exclusively with low capacity weapons.

Timothy James McVeigh never even fired a single shot when he killed 168 people and injured 800.

.

On the national NBC news there was an 11 minute full of emotion story on Colorado shooting and 38 second one on the Texas pickup truck crash shortly afterwards. The crash was termed horrific and was said to be illegal immigrants. Ho hum business as usual I am afraid. As long as the news wins the public opinion polls/ratings with the type of reporting used now NOTHING will change. Lets get some positive 2A stories on the tube guys.
