The CZ 527 carbine comes from the factory chambered in two calibers, .223 and 7.62x39. After being "turned on" to the gun by MadOgre's review and quite a bit of consideration, I've decided to buy one of the new synthetic-stocked ones but haven't decided which caliber I want. For fun, give me your thoughts with the following considerations in mind:
1. Ammo price isn't really a consideration
2. This will serve as a utility rifle more than anything else. Not a main hunting rifle or for any purpose other than just having a short, handy carbine for fun.
3. Scope will most likely be a Vortex Viper 2-7 variable. Rings will be Warne QD ('cause I DO use irons on a long gun that has them), though I've read that scoping one is somewhat problematic. I'd rather have the medium rings and will modify the bolt handle, if necessary, to use them.
4. Targets are targets of opportunity. It's unlikely that this will ever be a serious hunting gun. Rocks, junk, and small nuisance animals are most likely the victims here.
