The AK would be the Mac of guns. Functions flawlessly, but by and large utterly incompatible with all other computers (OS X can't mount an NFS share. You figure that one out.). It can be used by everyone, even grandma, but some nerds know exactly how it works. Mostly immune to malfunction, and fun, but not as fun as other weapons.

The AR would be the windows box we all love and love to hate. Works with practically everything, but malfunction-prone, and sometimes a bit esoteric (staking the gas key?). Everyone hates on it, but everyone would use it if it were in front of them. Not as bad as people say it is, as long as you aren't a complete moron.

The 1911 would be Linux, made from a zillion parts nobody really understands, except the ultra-nerdy, incredibly reliable if you know what you're doing, and not very good for everyday use (kidding, relax, 1911 lovers).

gyrojet = Sun.

(Add to it).

Or maybe e-Machines

They are simple, inexpensive and reliable imports for as long as the first part to give or break lasts, then you throw them out and get another.

Shooter429

The SKS would be DOS Shell. I don't know if anyone remembers what this was, but it was essentially a very early GUI that presented the DOS directories in an organized visual fashion and could be used with a mouse pointer. It was pre-Windows, and served as a transition between the straight up text command line interface of DOS and the visual organization of Windows. Just like the SKS served as a transition between the bolt-action Mosin Nagant and the select-fire AK. Like the SKS, DOS Shell was short-lived and quickly replaced by the superior Windows system.

The AR would be the windows box

And since the AK is pretty much useless beyond 300 yards, only suitable for personal work and not a serious standard. :neener:

The AR, good to 550 meters on a point target, is better accepted by people using it for serious business. :evil:

MAC=AK47 ??:uhoh::what: Sorry it just doesn't fit.:uhoh:

Macs are utterly expensive proprietary hardware, of mediocre performance, made for blondes, and very few users, to timid to install a driver.:neener::evil:

They only take one single type of environmentally friendly ammo. The 17HMR, with the case filled only half, not to endanger the "MAC rifle" and the environment.
Ammo comes in a proprietary magazine that you are not allowed to load yourself, but have to buy them already loaded from the "MAC guns and ammo boutique".

If the "Mac-rifle" have a simple misfire or extraction failure you are screwed, because you have to send it back to "MAC guns and ammo boutique" since nobody else is allowed to change a broken bolt, or a bent mag on this precious rifle.
You are not allowed to install any aftermarket scope, flash hider, muzzle brake, Jewell trigger, or evil rails....
The two pieces of accessories they sale, both made by the "MAC guns and ammo boutique", are a sling and a crappy scope........both in pink.:evil:

Nothing here reminds me of an AK. Sorry. :evil::D

I'll run now.:D

Customer Support

And how about customer support say from India :eek:

I could just imagine explaining a problem and getting a recommended fix.

How do you unplug a AK-47 to reboot it :D

That put a smile on my face. Good one

Taurus = Windows ME :)

I think there is another connection to be had here but its not so much on brands.

Glocks are the laptops- anybody who uses one for work takes its everywhere, its not as special or powerful as some of the other models out there but its a hell of a lot easier to drag around. (This one falls apart when you look at the durablity issue)

Custom Kimber/STI/ Les Bauer/ ect 1911's are the custom gamer box- super hi functioning, does a million things at once but really picky about its hardware or Ammo. You cant shove a crappy $10 graphics card in your shiny custom box and you cant shove cheap a** ultramax ammo in you 1911 and expect it to run without issues.

No, the AK would be Linux: brutally reliable, effective for what it was originally designed to do, but inherently deficient in several key areas. Simple (Linux is fairly simple if used as originally intended and as it should be; it's the crapware addons that make it complex)

The AR-15 would be Windows: earlier versions were unreliable, but current versions are rock solid if treated correctly. Very expensive, but you get what you pay for.

An AR-15 with pink furniture would be a Mac: offering no real benefit over normal black and grey funiture, other than to declare your likely sexual confusion (if male) and lack of critical thinking skills to choose something more practical and effective.

I don't think so! The 1911 would be a Novell 3.12 file server. Ultra reliable in it's day. (We're up to Novell/Netware 6.5 now) There was a Novell server, in a room at a university somewhere that got remodeled and actually closed off. It was in use on the network, for better than 3 years without a reboot before another 'remodel' discovered it. That's how my 1911's run. No break downs.

AR= Windows Server 2003. or Vista. Love it when it's running well. Hate it when it's not. Just keep it clean, it'll do fine.

AK= Linux/Unix. Pretty stable. Know it well. It'll keep running.

Remington 870= Cisco Switches and Routers. Almost flawless.

Any plastic pistol= VMware. VMcluster. The new age.
