Cruising through Academy the other day for something else and I noticed that not only are the ammunition shelves and gun displays looking sparse, but the small handgun safes & lock boxes were pretty well cleared out as well.

Son went into our little LGS 2 days ago. They normally have 7 display cases full of handguns..all are empty but 3...AND they are selling ammunition only to those who buy a gun...

That is some of the best news I have heard lately. I ALWAYS tell people to budget some money to secure their firearm from children and idjits alike. Doesn't mean it cannot be accessible as there are many quick access safes, doesn't mean it cannot be on the nightstand if you don't have kids but when you have kids or other folks over or you are not in direct control....keep them secured.

I was in a Sportsman's Warehouse a week ago and they had lots of handguns, rifles, and shotguns available for sale. LOTS.

Here in Utah, I guess that buying guns is a part of regular life, not something that folks only think of when they are scared.

That store even had an 8# jug of TAC. And a few other powders.

If panic buying has occurred in your area, then you likely have an opportunity to coach new gun owners. Take advantage of this opportunity!

Three weeks ago in one weekend, we sold 2/3 of all the guns we had in stock.
Two weeks ago we sold half of what was left.
We've been able to order some guns for restock, make/model severely restricted by the dreaded "out of stock".
It's been a crazy month.

Most gun stores here have been closed, so I haven't been in one for nearly 6 weeks to gauge what's still locally available.

I did find Buds had a couple I have been wanting to buy for a while so I ordered them, and my local FFL has me in the waiting period process to pick them up by next Weds (Unless the DOJ delays my purchase again claiming "covid-19 staffing reductions" or whatever load of hooey they used last time.)

I have two Taurus rimfire handguns I was looking to send to a new home to fund a S&W purchase, but I can't even get in to consign them until the LGS that will do consignments fully reopens.

Stay safe.

We were designated as an essential business. I do have papers in my car to explain to police why I'm out and about, but no one has asked to see them or even looked twice at me driving around. Traffic is crazy light, of course. The real craziness is that the distributors are out of so much inventory. Ask them for Glock 17's or 19's and they laugh

Stay safe.
Doing my best, you too.

Our imperial governor has extended this stupidity further... yet it’s nearly as busy out as normal today and it’s going to be 98 here tomorrow. I seriously believe people gonna start taking it out on the cops/rangers who are forced to contact people at the beach who are “violating” these orders trying to keep their sanity.

As for my LGS, I think they’re still staying closed until further notice. :(.
Other than consigning the Tauri, I don’t “need” anything there... but I like looking :).
Stay safe.
