Is there a patch or brush made just for cleaning the forcing cone of a revolver. My 22 shoots well but the forcing cone has a lot of lead buildup. My usual method is to pick it clean with a sharp point and I dont like that.
A handy tool for use in "picking" the crud out of small crevices on a handgun is a simple piece of heavy gauge copper wire cut about 4 or 5 in. long. It can be sharpened to a point on one end and hammered into a chisel shape on the other end. It works great on the area around the barrel shank/forcing cone/top strap where the lead and powder fouling likes to build up. The copper won't scratch steel or nickel finishes. Vigorous scrubbing will sometimes leave traces of copper on a blued gun which can be removed easily with a Q tip and some cold blue. Try it.
