Form vs Function

However a wood grip that is properly fitted to your hand won't rattle around at all, it just pushes into your hands rather than slapping you. There is no impact to your hand to be absorbed. The recoil is transferred to your arms as it is meant to be.

Ditto. It also depends on the frame size, caliber and barrel length.

My 6" M-29 that has been mag-na-ported is very comfortable to shoot with full magnum loads and factory grips.

Curiously enough it is not the same story with the 4" M-29.

When it comes to my 4" K-Frames it is form. Magna service grip with a Tyler T-Grip fits my hand great. It is ugly but I can't argue with how well it works.

The biggest mistake I see is shooters putting rubber grips on single action revolvers. They end up fighting the recoil instead of letting it slip by with the gun recoils upwards in the palm.
