Hey Gang,

I've run into the excellent fortune of getting a very sweet SBR AR. I need to work through the transfer, but..

As I live in Dallas proper, I decided the quickest and easiest route was to go with a trust. Unless someone on this board believes differently about a CLEO sig, I'm continuing that direction.

The question is (and I know no one truely has an answer) how long does the approval generally take? I've heard it's faster with a trust...but as I have nothing to compare it to, I don't know if I should expect one day or one year!

It depends on how busy the approval dept at the atf is (regardless of method) but the most recent one I've heard about, stamp received last week, was 30 days, which is very fast (and he used a trust iirc). Back in Nov. I was hearing 4+ months, so maybe they aren't as busy now.

Thank you sir! That IS fast! I'd better get cracking then before they get busy.

As it's part of some trade fodder, the faster the better...not only to have it my hands, but to close the deal ASAP...

For us as a FFL/SOT gunshop most of our customers using Trusts for Form 4s for suppressors and SBRs takes about 7-8 weeks as of late. Early last year things were slower most then taking 12-16 weeks.

I have been waiting since September. I really depends on the examiner that you get. I sent 4 forms off at the same time. Two Have been back a while. I got two different examiners, one is slower than the other!

Thats what my LGS who does literally 60 NFA transactions a month said.. about 45 days-2 months average for his store customers..

Hmm...does anyone note significantly longer times for MGs than for Form 1's or cans?

I'm at 4 months since pending on my first (trust, bought from individual), and all these many tales of 2-2.5 month turnarounds being current "average" make me, well....:banghead:

I know, patience is a prerequisite for NFA. I didn't start getting twitchy until after 90 days pending...

My first stamp was 4 months door to door. I just got it back last month.
