Good old PPU.

I’ve used many boxes of that in my several no. 4 and pair of no. 5 Enfields.

Plus WW2 (“ ‘ 43 “) - 1960s corrosive ammo.

The WW2 ammo came from a -former- company known as SAMCO…Not Sarco…Samco , with the popular Cuban lady .;)

Congrats, I haven't found any in stock lately near that price. Pre-pandemic (so tired of saying that), the local shop by me used to sell 20rds of PPU 174gr for $13/box. Man I long for those days. Reloading works out pretty well price wise right now and projectiles can be had pretty easily (if you have the primers). Good luck and enjoy shooting everyone of them!

Back in 2018 when I bought my sporterized No.4, unbeknownst to me it came with 5 full boxes of mixed commercial ammo. I suppose now the ammo would sell for more than the rifle cost me!
If you can find it. I’ve been searching high and low for months, ever since l bought the gun. It came with 9 rounds which prevented me from firing it. The owner was my neighbor and good friend. I bought it from his widow. The store has 2 more boxes I will be buying.

Samco even had some excellent condition “Persian Mausers” around 2010 or so.

I didn't want a rifle built in Iran/Persia.
But they were Czech Mausers under contract ! IIRC :what:

Only soon after they were sold out I discovered an article about these Mausers in Surplus Gun or a similar magazine. :(

Anyway, less than a week after I ordered that large case of WW2 etc, mixed .303 ammo, they stated Sold Out.

AmmoSeek (link above) has a whole bunch of online vendors selling .303 Brit, pretty much all under $2 / round, some well under. Reasonable these days for milsurp ammo. I've paid over $3 / round (including shipping) for some calibers (Arisaka, I think it was).

I checked some of the places on AmmoSeek, some had excellent prices but the shipping charges boosted the final price way more that what I bought here the other day.

I picked up a few hundred rounds PPU 174 gr for $1.90/round after shipping and taxes from SGAmmo, courtesy of Ammoseek. Best deal I had been able to find for awhile to end up with good, solid, reloadable brass.
