Found a Tumblr at the dump!

I once found a Sears weed eater at the local dump when I lived in Georgia. I took it to Sears and they fixed it because it was still in good shape. I think it cost me $15 to $20. When living in Wisconsin, I was walking my dog and spied a Cabela's heavy duty lawn chair. I took it to Cabela"s and said I have this chair that is broken--- BINGO I got a chair that was better than the broken one. When I was much younger in the late 50's through the 60's, the guy that ran the dump always had a wad of cash in his pocket that would choke a horse . When he died, his gold coin collection was donated to a University. My brother and I always wanted to go to the country dump late in the day to shoot rats. All is gone now due to trash compactors and everything in the large trash cans that hide some good stuff. The classic dumpster diving story deals with the local Winchester Hardware store that was down town in Wisconsin. In the 1980's they moved from the downtown location to the outskirts of town to have more room and a new building. The had several dumpsters of Winchester ( it was an original Winchester Store starting from the teens and 20's) and other sporting goods stuff that was in the upper floor and basement. Two clever guys dumpster dived for days, until the cops found what they were doing. They took them to the cop shop, and the guy in charge said if it was in the dumpster there were no rules broken. This was told to me by my brother who knew the divers, and bought some good stuff from them. I am never that lucky

It's Demi-human's fault, haha. Actually,am grateful he posted the Hilti cabinet on pg 1. Here's my small Hilti add on box. Haven't figured what's going in it yet but, that'll work itself out. Now gotta paint the ho made riser.

It turned out pretty good,on the finish.... I'm spoiled using $$$ spray equipment so my spraybomb technique is lacking. The color is DANG close..... Krylon satin leather brown, for anyone needing touch up for their Kennedy boxes. Screenshot_20190930-185435_Gallery.jpg

People toss stuff that they have no idea what they are throwing away. Could of belonged to a woman whos hubby died or mabe seperated from and lover number 2 got rid of the junk for her.
I was set up at a local gun show once and the old guy set up next to me went to a garage sale and seen the handle of a dillon press sticking out of a plastic tote under a fold up plastic table.
He asked the lady how much for the reloading press in the tote under the table.
She told him $50, he bought it. He took it out of the tote and went to leave and shevtold him that all three totes go with it.
She said he dead husband loved shooting and she hated guns. Leave your number a she would call him to pick up the rest of the stuff once she had time to box it all up.
That was the best find I ever heard of.

I bought a nice trunk at a flea market a couple of years ago that had some reloading stuff in it.
I got two RCBS single stage presses. A cheap lyman powder throwern a set of RCBS 25/06 dies and a set if RCBS 30 caliber Remington dies, a cheap wood Cabelas gun vice, and some smaller reloading items for $90.
Not a great deal, but not bad.

Nice finds, I need me a new press lol. Get anymore hunting in?

We went out this morning at one of my favorite squirrel hunting spots in Harpursville.they logged most ofvthe bigger oak trees out ofvthere about ten years ago sonit ruined most of the woods for hunting squirrels. We seen nine squirrels in the hickory trees. My grandson shot three times and missed. We did have a nice size doe walk by us about 60 feet away. Never knew we were there.
It is raining out pretty heavy right now. If it isn't raining in the morning we will be going back out early in the morning over to the Melody Hill State Game Lands again where he shot that one on saturday.

We bought a ten foot preasure treated 2x8 to put up higher between two trees to hang deer onnnext month. There is a eight foot 2x6 up there now that is to low to skin the deer comfortably.
I picked up some 1/4" plastic coated cable, three small pullys and three u bolts to hang on the meat pole so we can hang three deer.

Ya rained all day here to. Hope you get out some more, have you shown him how to process any game yet.

I showed him how i skin squirrels.
Cut the head off, the tail off, the feet off.
The slice the hide about half way between head & tail. Pull one half ofvthe hide off then the other half.
Then gut it out and cut it up.
I will freeze what we getcand take it back to washington state withnus to cook up.

When I worked at a friends 550 cow dairy farm I got most of the cull cows to butcher. It would take my right around three hours from when I shot the cow to when I dropped it off at the slaughter house to be cut up.
I took my grandson with me several times when I processed these cows.

I had tons of beef and I sold a lot of them for $1 a pound hanging weight. I use to get between $550 to $700 a cow.

When he gets a little older I will bring him back to here ( Upatate New York) for deer season.

LOL. Went from dump picking to butchering. Back to dumps with a Maine version of Saturday Night Live.
In the 70’s and 80’s yearly deer hunts were in A small central Maine town. The town dump was a black bear attraction, and that attracts town residents who would park in the evening watching the bears picking over the days dump. Or so it was told I never actually attended my self ;)

I hunt close to the pa and nj line, in New York since nj did the no bear hunting we have had many bears. Missed out on one last year, after shooting a doe. Walked up to the doe and in the lower field was the bear I was about to pull the trigger but my buddy's son shot it. Over 500lb field dressed and caped.
