From Forbes. I will edit to provide complete source cite. It's called intellectual honesty.

It should be noted that production costs in Austria
amount to US$ 115-130 and that the inter-company selling price is
around US$ 200 ( The end-user price around 450-500 USD). Since the
margin of US$ 70-85 per unit produced is enormous, the profit is
taxable in its entirety. In fact, and according to the contract, 14%
of the volume produced went into Unipatent Holding and must have been
transferred into Mr Gaston Glock's private accounts. Thus Mr Gaston
Glock has seen his fortune go from nothing to about US$ 100,000,000
in 1998 in the accounts of the Ferrier & Lullin Bank of Luxembourg.

Now to the best of my knowledge Forbes is a reputable source on business matters. Sure it's not a peer reviewed journal but it is the best I could do on short notice.

Joab, you can do better than that. I don't have a glass jaw.

Very cool, thanks much.

Note also that the US cost is somewhat higher, accounting for:

a) Trans-Atlantic shipping to Glock USA;
b) Work done to the pistols once they enter the US.

Wait joab, don't just give up

There were some really important points being made here. Just take a breather and come back to it. You were doing so well.

(and I've got cash riding on this flame-fest going into 4 pages)

Anytime somebody drags out that link it only start a good flame war. :fire:

Chris gives HIS opinion about handguns and does little to hide his dislike, ditaste and hatred of Glocks, but that's HIS opinion.

He seems only glad to steer (sell) you the pistols he likes, but forgets he's in the USA where we can make OUR own choices.

He just come off like a spoiled little brat who demands we do what he says and like it and thank him as being the greatest firearms expert ever. And if we disagree, then we're just a bunch of stupid idiots that need to be ranted and raved at some more.

Too me any firearm is worth my interest, that's right, ANY. Be it the least expensive handguns to the most expense custom rifle or SG.

Guy's like Chris just burn my butt, we need less gun snobbery and more solidarity. Our infighting over guns, hunting, etc... will if not kept in check will hand the gungrabbers a victory.

No prob bro, my google-fu is strong.

Honestly folks, net research is quick and easy. Sure my first reply to this thread wasn't the most eloquent thing I could have posted. But obvious distortions and third hand info being relayed as fact are one of my pet peeves. I believe in empiricism and the scientific method. If that makes me an asshat, then so be it.:neener: And if you make a wild claim you better have some real research to back it up.
