I found a real SKS-M. It has a blond wood Monte Carlo stock, 16" barrel, 1 30rd mag, 1 10rd mag, cleaning rod, and is in overall very good shape. The only downside is it has a scope rail cover on the gun instead of the original receiver cover. Not a big deal but it would be nicer if it was 100% original and compleat. This is the model that takes real AK-47 mags not the duckbill junk. It was made in 1993.

They are asking $175 OBO. I offered $150 and they said they would take it. Should I buy it for that price?

P.S., that was a joke! Of course I bought it! $150 for a SKS-M is a steal and I know it. I am a lucky guy sometimes.:D

I got to get my camera working again. I am so lazy and i hate messing the puter. I've wanted one of these for a while but I have only once ever seen one at a gunshow and someone was in the process of buying it at the time.:fire: That one had a thumbhole stock which is cool as well but for an everyday gun, the Monte Carlo is a little better. I am a huge SKS fan so it will get shot and kept.

When I started read your post, all I could think was that SKS was not going to be there anyway if you go back for it.

Good call. I never seem to get that lucky when I am at a show. Best I seem to hope for is getting a deal on the beef jerky.

And yes, you are required to post pictures of your new find. I am pretty sure it is in the Forum rules.

I wouldn't have dickered at $175.00.(I did pass one up last month for $350.00 NIB,tho.)You did real good on that deal.tom.

Man you're lucky.

I went to the gun show here today and it was horrible. Everything was extremely overpriced and selection was pathetic.

One guy wanted $400 for a beat-to-hell Chinese SKS

Awesome deal! I want a SKS D(or M) "just to have", but not bad enough to pay current market prices.

I got an SKS-M in amazing condition 3 months ago for I think it was $90. I would have felt bad, but the guy I ripped off was already dead (estate sale)

Every once in a while I will find a deal. I have found maybe half a dozen deals as good or slightly better than this one. I have been going to gunshows for 15 years and I probably go to about 5-7 per year. I would average 2 good deals a year I guess. I only get a great deal every once in a blue moon. That is why I still go.

The last gunshow I went to had absolutly nothing worth buying at the prices they were asking. It was a MUCH larger show and yet there was not a deal to be had in the place. They didn't have anything I could buy at Wal-Mart or order online for cheaper. What is the point of a gunshow where the prices are higher than the local stores and online stores?

I guess it is like treasure hunting, you don't have to find something everytime, just often enough to keep you comming back.
