$235.00 in a local shop.
18" barrel, synthetic furniture. 5 or 6 plus one capacity (not positive actually). Action is smooth, the stock fits me well, and the matte black finish looks good. No silly locking safeties or any such nonsense. Cylinder bore barrel, and get this, ghost ring sights. The rear sight is protected by stout steel wings. Steel receiver. Interestingly enough, the safety can be activated without the weapon being cocked, a feature I like.
The model? Norinco 98. I wouldn't have bought one a couple years back, but from all accounts, their QC has improved greatly over a few years, and the price sure is right. (SWAT magazine gave a good review to their Model 97 clone a few months back. I ever so much want one of their new Model 97 Trench Gun clones...handled one at Totally Awesome Guns in Utah and it was love at first sight).
The used market is kind of slack around here, so I was unable to find a decent used 870 at a similar price (muchless one with the sights that I wanted).
I'll give a detailed range report when I take it out for the first time, as well as updates to see how it holds up. This is going to be a "beater" shotgun, essentially, until I perhaps decide on something else down the road (there are a few I might like, like an autoloader, but I can't afford one now).
