The only powder I was able to find

for reloading pistols yesterday was PB $30 a pound. I have never used it but it beats nothing. I probably should have bought the other pound he had. I got lucky at Cabela's Yesterday(yeah I wish) I mean I got a thousand round brick of Winchester M-22 and a 500 round box of Blazer 22 along with 2000 CCI small pistol primers for $29.99 each. I also picked up 2 250 round boxes of berry's 9mm 124 grain bullets for $22.39 each.

I am very glad that I stocked up on powder early on in the 1st term of "hope & change".Most of my powders cost me about 1/2 of that $30/lb.

Without the 2nd all of the others are null & void.

I wish I had done that. It took me almost a year to gather all the components and supplies needed to reload and I still can't find powder. Went to a local gun show in Central FL on Sat. Plenty of rifle powder but no handgun. Can't find W231 or HP38 on line either. :(

I find this all weird. I now have picked up 32 lbs of 4756 (4x8's) and 64 lbs of pistol powders all in 8 lb containers. 2 unique, 1 bullseye, 1 herco, 2 blue dot, 1 claydot, 1 red dot. All of this in the last say 40 days.

Why is powder so readily available here in Texas and it seems like other places don't have it?

"Tendriver: I bought a pound of Varget a few months ago and realized afterwards I had no need for it. It's still sitting on the shelf unopened. I figure I'll load something with it one of these days. "

You don't know what to do with a pound of Varget? You own a .308?

45.0 grains behind a Hornady 150 gr. spire point is my recipe for one-hole groups. Try it.

No 308. I load plinking ammo for my M1, 223, 54R eventually, hunting ammo for my 270 and pistol ammo.

I found that Varget before I had dialed in loads for each. Just never got around to messing with it.

Yes, my dumb luck served me well. Bought a total of 48lbs. of commercial and 32lbs of surplus powder about 6 months before the craziness. Still have a bunch. I try to buy a large quantity every year or so. That way it takes some of the sting out of the hazmat fee. Recently, I bought 8lbs of H4895 and 8lbs of 748 for $150 each from an individual who was being deployed. I have always kept a good inventory of reloading supplies so this "shortage" hasn't been too bad on me. I am grateful and have helped out a number of friends.

I grabbed 2 pounds of H335 at a local gun show for 30 each. Can't find it anywhere local and still beats the 20$ hazmet fee.

I picked up 24 more lbs (3x8's) of IMR4227 yesterday. I am now ready to load my 357 Maximum again. I was using up other powders to keep it going. Yeah to me!
