Next time I'll try the Simple Green to check it out.

I believe the gaskets are a hard rubber. A small amount of rubber degradation will allow it to conform more to the hard plastic drum aiding in the gasket seal.

A lot of good information here on this site. Thanks to all who contribute!!!

Just get a strap wrench, it's easy cheap and works perfectly. After a few times, you will find that you don't have to tighten it down super tight. You will get a feel for how much, and it's not much more than hand-tight. This is what worked for me.

I have one of those media transfer magnets ... i caulked it up real pretty to keep the water out of it and it works great. Used white silicon caulk but then used a black perma el marko to make the white go away.

I do the soap on the gaskets thing too. I think I even leave the strainer in sometimes too ... keeps the pins from rolling into the recessed observation window.

You can see where I caulked-up around the bottom seam and the handle and rivets. Makes all the difference in the world ... looks real purrrrrdy too.

Treat wet tumbling like a liquid process, and you’ll stop spilling pins.

Or better still, ditch the pins. 30min, brass is clean, 30 more min in a dryer and it’s ready to load.
