I have a question for you all. I own a MA compliant AR 16inch carbine eith the perminetly attached fake izzy surpressor. I'd like to get into some 100 to 200 yard shooting and would like a free floating forend. I called Bushmaster, excellent customer service by the way, to get a service quote on the procedure. They said it would cost to much for them to do it that it would not be in my best interest to have them do it.

My question is has anyone done this yet? just wondering if I grind the top posts of my front sight, kind of what is used on Bushmasters varminter rifles (I have the flat top upper with a scope mounted, and am not planning on using optics) if the free floating end would slide over whats left of the sight.
or has anyone just removed the front sight (on my model that would require a very painfull operation to saw off the entire front sight cause it won't fit over the surpressor) added the free floater then a clamp on gas block
thanks

See if you can find a used "post-ban" (i.e., no bayonet lug) upper with a free floating forearm. After the AWB expired, they were going cheap because only a few states have AWB-like laws and lots of owners wanted to upgrade to the mil-spec upper.
