Do you have a Remington 700 ADL Short-Action rifle that you'd like to shoot and look better than it does?

I have recently purchased a new stock for mine and replaced my synthetic ADL stock which I'd epoxy-pillar-bedded and free-floated and stiffened the forend. Not the prettiest interior, but extremely functional and very accurate. My .223 shot extremely well with it, but recently bought a new stock for it and I'm willing to offer this stock to the first person who'd like to replace their stock for one that will make their rifle shoot better.

The exterior of the stock is like new.

The stock can be used for any 700 ADL short- barreled action. Cost would be only for shipping from Maine to you.

Best story as to why you need/want this stock gets it!!!

That's pretty good of you. My son and I each bought ADL's. I already replaced my stock. I expect to see him tomorrow but I think he want's a youth stock. I will let you know but meanwhile if someone else wants it let them have it. You are a good man Picher.

I’d love to have it just for braggin rights to owning something you’ve worked on but my next 700 purchase is a ways down the road.

Right now I’m contemplating an replacement 10/22 for the one I sold last week. If that happens you can be sure my RFC bookmarks of your posts there and some Devcon will be close at hand.

First target after new bedding in the ADL stock. I couldn't see the holes in the black at first, so fired at the white at the bottom of the target. All rounds were handloads, as are almost all the rounds fired in this rifle. No maximum loads were ever fired in this rifle (nor in any of my rifles).

I've done it a couple times, and they work well, especially for the cost.
I never even thought to do a write up on the process, that sound like a great project!

I've watched a few videos on YouTube, enough to get me in trouble at least. I'll have to pick your brain before I take a crack at it.

I've done it on a couple BDL stocks and it is well worth the upgrade. I've never had great success with the internal Remington magazine but the AI/magpul system makes a world of difference.

Let me know if there's anything I can help with.....what I did on the two adls, which were wood, was punch holes then uses chisels and files to actually fit the bottom "metal".

On a synthetic it might work just as well, or it might not I honestly don't know. I've only fitted the magpul kits to bdls on synthz.

Nice offer. Alas, i have my stiffened tiger stripe camo ADL stock hanging on the wall.
The rifle now wears an HS Precision.

Picher: This is a photo of the "Free" ADL pillar-bedded stock inletting. The remainder of the forend is also filled with epoxy for stiffening, but has no added metal weights...but the barrel is completely free-floating beyond the yellow bedding material. I didn't like how flexible the original forend design allowed the forend to flex when using a sling. It's very stiff now and doesn't flex with sling pressure.

(My ADL barrelled action now wears an HS Precision stock, but doesn't shoot any better than with this stock. I like the "feel" better though. J.P.)

I rather like the look and feel of the Remington checkered tupperware stocks.

The thing that I don't like is the diameter of the forends. I have large hands and like bigger forends than that of an ADL stock. Bigger forends ride the front bag a bit better also, though I only shoot from the bench with them for sighting-in, so that's not a big problem. I kinda like the ADL stocks for carrying around.

That's exactly my opinion on them as well. The wood stocks with their semi beavertail shape for my hands better. But IMO the old ADL/BDL synthetic stocks were really pretty decent stocks, and besides the forend I found they fit me really well..... actually one of the reasons I like remington's, is almost all of their stocks fit me well and feel pretty good.

I'd still call that a win
Me too, otherwise I wouldn't have ordered it. Still, I managed with the factory stock. It's not the only varmint rifle I own, but I carry it more than the others because it's a bit lighter and I walk at least a couple of miles when I go down back to check for varmints. It's nice to carry.

BTW, the H.S. Precision came in a box that was kinda destroyed in shipping, but the stock didn't get a scratch. That shows how rugged it is.

Thank you for your attention. THE STOCK IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE FOR FREE:::::I've donated the stock to my shooting club and they'll put it up for sale on the clubhouse's "For Sale - Bulletin Board". I hope someone buys and enjoys it. No idea how much it will be posted for. (Capital City R&P, Augusta, ME). I hope they get Fifty bucks! Time will tell.
