Yeah I'm behind the NRA. They might not be perfect, but they're certainly the best we've got. GOA doesn't have 4 million members and can't be as effective, as such. Fight together or hang alone, right?

Even if they are free, i wont join them again. its just part of their 10 point plan to later get money from you. Let the dinner time phone calls for $$ begin....the endless "URGENT" stream of mail everyday askin for $$ and NO HELP TO BE FOUND WHEN YOU ASK THEM FOR IT. Keep the free membership, its still not worth it to me.

When you join or renew your NRA membership, just include a note saying something to the effect:

"NO SOLICITATION PHONE CALLS, OR LETTERS"

I did this years ago, and it works great. All I get from the NRA are renewal notices - no additional solicitations.

NRA Free Membership complaints

I just happened upon this thread regarding free membership in the NRA and noted some pretty harsh complaints about the organization.

It is worthwhile to remember that no organization is perfect. The NRA must attempt to respond to the opinions of millions of members. It is impossible to please everyone. We all need to remember that if they had the money, the NRA would fight every single anti-gun effort in the entire nation. Becauase their funding is limited, they must choose very carefully which battles to fight. I think they do a very good job...not perfect, but very good - better than I could do.

And I agree that their constant requests for money and the cheap shot pleas and silly contests are annoying. But, again, they are doing the best they can do. The NRA needs money to fight and quibbling about their dumb contests and never-ending letter campaign does not help. Write them a check - if for nothing else to say "thanks" for ensuring that you can still buy and carry firearms. This country is unique on Planet Earth and, as far as gun ownership and possession rights go, the NRA is the reason.

Join and support the NRA. They are our champions in this fight and we all need to put aside personal grievances and give them some money to fight with. I know - I can't afford it either. But I've got children to protect and I can't protect them from Charles Schummer and Nancy Pelosi by myself. I need the NRA - and so do you.

"no help to be found when you ask them for it."

BeltfedMG,would you care to elaborate on that? Do you have a personal experience you would like to relate to the rest of the class?
