Mentioned to a friend I was low on bp, as my local dealer hasn't gotten his shipment yet.
The friend said "I will bring you some". He gave me a pound of DuPont FFF with a price of $2 written on it. Got to be pre 1976 at $2 likely the '60s.

If you are worried about the age of this powder think that normally the black powder does not age and stays good if properly stored, it does not become destructive, or more dangerous as some modern powders aging bad ...

Your old Dupont de Nemours is normally good if it is a real BP...

When I started buying black powder back in '63 or '64, the price of du Pont at the local gun shop was $2.50 per pound. If I brought the empty can back, I could get it refilled for $2.00.:D

I was buying DuPont for $2/lb. at the local sport shop when I started then I ordered a 16# drum from Badger Shooter Supply at about $1/ lb.. I wasn't even
18 years old and REA Express delivered it to my door. I still had a few oz. of that old DuPont I was "saving for seed".

Dang cheap price Zimmerstutzen. I think I paid $6.50 back in the late '70s for my first can and I had to go to Oakland, CA to buy it too. 3 lbs cans weren't stocked by the store.

I have an unopened lb like the one on the left. Hey Dave, "saving for seed". Can we plant this stuff and grow more?
I planted a pound of it in my Dad's garden back in the 60s!
I couldn't hide the crater it left from him when he got home! Or the missing peas and beans!

YIKES!
