Fresh meat!

Second to last day of late season for deer here in Washington. Got this nice mature blacktail doe who has been spending her evening hours snacking under my apple tree for the last few weeks. First deer with my h&r topper 20ga, used a winchester slug. Got her broadside and sent one through the lungs. No Turkey for me this thanksgiving!

Nice, I shot the first deer of my life at the age of 11, using a single shot 20 gauge Iver Johnston Champion shotgun, it also was a doe.

This is actually the first deer I have shot. I’ve taken a small buck with my bow in 2019, got skunked in 2020 with my bow so decided it was time to give a gun a try. No surprise but it sure was much easier! I enjoyed it just the same as bow hunting but I have a higher likelihood of filling the freezer. Next challenge is one with a revolver, maybe next year.
